Welcome to Sampson County, the largest county in North Carolina!

The County has two public school systems, one private school,
one alternative resource school, and Sampson Community College
which offers a variety of professional, vocational, and technical
programs. The North Carolina Justice Academy, located in Salemburg,
provides criminal justice training for many state and local
agencies. Sampson Regional Medical Center, located in Clinton,
is a progressive hospital with comprehensive health care facilities.
Clinton is the county seat offering a full range of government
services and facilities.
Sampson County enjoys a seasonal climate, rich soil and an
abundance of water, which served as the natural ingredients
for Sampson County to develop as an agricultural leader in
the nation. Tobacco, cotton, and vegetables led the way in
the early days. More recently, the mass production of poultry
and pork made Sampson the largest producer of hogs in the United
States. Agriculture continues to be the basis for Sampson County’s
economy as we lead the state in gross farm income. We continue
as the state’s largest producer of vegetables and swine,
are second in turkeys, cotton, and sweet potatoes and are eighth
in tobacco. Industries, which are also attracted to the seasonal
climate as well as the progressive business climate of the
area, have recently located throughout the county in a variety
of suitable industrial locations including a 372-acre Sampson
Southeastern Business Complex located in Clinton.
Sampson County is served by an ideal transportation network.
The close proximity of Interstate 40 provides easy access to
300 miles of sandy beaches, islands and inlets of the North
Carolina coast renowned for its fishing, boating and other
recreational opportunities. Also within easy reach is western
North Carolina, bounded by two ranges of the Southern Appalachians,
the Blue Ridge Mountains and the Great Smokey Mountains. Conveniently
located only and hour’s drive from the state capital
and Research Triangle Park, residents participate in a broad
range of cultural and recreational activities.
Clinton and Sampson County combine an ideal business environment
